Ready for Takeoff!
Eighteen months ago, I took to the skies again after a near 30-year hiatus. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as soon as I was airborne, I felt it—the undeniable pull of aviation. It was as if a part of me had been waiting all this time to come alive again. Since then, my passion for flying has only grown stronger, and now, I’m making the biggest leap of my life: leaving my career behind to train for a career as an airline pilot which- at 47 years old!
This is something I’ve dreamed about for as long as I can remember, but for years, life took me in other directions. Now, I’m taking control of my future and chasing the career I’ve always wanted. It’s thrilling, daunting, and exhilarating all at once.
Today, I’m on my way to Denver for the Women in Aviation Conference. Traveling alone, I feel a mix of nerves and excitement, but more than anything, I can’t wait to meet other female pilots, hear their stories, and learn about all the training and career paths available to me. Being in a space filled with like-minded, trailblazing women will be inspiring beyond words.
While the road ahead is uncertain, one thing is crystal clear: I am exactly where I’m meant to be. Here’s to new beginnings, bold choices, and following our passions—no matter when or how we get there.
